Bottled Water vs. Tap
Aside from the fact that Americans spent $10 billion on bottled water in 2005. Is it really necessary to drink so much water?
When you figure that 80% of water consumed comes from beverages and the remaining 20% comes from fruits and vegetables. When making the decision is it better to drink bottle water?
The national resources council, tested 103 brands of bottled water Including a comparison of the national bottled rules with national tap water rules. The results were that bottle water is no safer then tap. In fact, tap water is regulated and contains essential nutrients. Bottled water contains unneeded vitamins and fluoride. It has also been reported that there are high levels of bacteria in some bottled water, which is not contained in tap water. Additionally there are no requirements for bottled water to be disinfected or tested for parasites.
Therefore tap water is found to be both safer and cheaper.
