When CPS comes to your door
A neighbor, ex-spouse, or anyone that has a vendetta against you, can and often will turn you in to Child Protective Services.
If child protective services comes to your door and you cooperate with their demands, there is 40% chance that they will remove your child or children from your home. Even if there is no evidence of abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse.
Be calm and polite, but under no circumstance do you ever let a social worker into you home in without a warrant.
You are protected under the 4th amendment of the constitution. If you do, it could cost you your children and a long court battle. It is not uncommon for a cps worker to try to coerce you into believing that if you don't let them in they will take your children.Since the social worker needs to gather evidence against you, they need "probable cause" before the can obtain a search warrant. The social worker is not working for the best interest of your children and has absolutely no interest in protecting the children.
In order to keep their job, a CPS worker must meet a quota. And if he or she able to remove your children they will receive bonuses of from $4,000 to $6,000 per child. A CPS worker will lie and do what ever is necessary to kidnap your children even if they have to remove your children illegally.
Remember to...
- Be prepared have a tape or video recorder keep it on hand to record any and all conversations that you have with CPS.
- Get a copy of child welfare policy manual for your state.
- Join a cps reform support group.
- If your children are enrolled in a public school temporally remove your children the until you are no longer in danger.
- Research state and federal laws as they pertain to your situation.
- And last but not least ask what the accusations are being alleged against you.
CPS might not go away as soon as you shut the door in their face. So go to your family physician get a physical for your children do not tell the doctor the reason for the visit, because they are also mandated reporters.
Get a copy of the medical records, be sure to black out any detailing information. Get declarations from friends, family, coworkers or a church members stating what a wonderful parent you are. And if the situation calls for it go to a trusted mental health professional for evaluation of yourself and your children.
Send all these documents to cps and request that the case be closed since there is nothing to investigate.
